Claims Process
Been in an auto accident? We guide you through every step of the insurance claims process so you can focus on healing.
Navigating Your Auto Accident Claim
After a car accident, dealing with insurance companies can feel overwhelming — especially when you're in pain. At Gentle Care Chiropractic, we handle the administrative side of your claim so you can concentrate on getting better.
Report the Accident
File a police report at the scene of the accident if possible. Then contact your auto insurance company to report the accident and open a PIP (Personal Injury Protection) claim. Oregon law requires you to seek medical treatment within a reasonable time after the accident to ensure your claim is valid.
Schedule Your Appointment
Call Gentle Care Chiropractic at (503) 650-2394 as soon as possible. We offer same-day and next-day appointments for auto accident patients. Early treatment is important — not only for your health, but also to establish a clear connection between the accident and your injuries for insurance purposes.
Initial Evaluation & Documentation
During your first visit, we'll perform a comprehensive examination to assess your injuries. We document everything thoroughly — your symptoms, range of motion, neurological findings, and any diagnostic imaging results. This detailed documentation is critical for supporting your insurance claim and ensuring you receive the full benefits you're entitled to.
Treatment & Ongoing Care
We begin treatment based on your personalized plan, which may include chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, physical rehabilitation, and laser therapy. Throughout your treatment, we provide regular progress reports to your insurance company and coordinate with any other healthcare providers involved in your care.
Billing & Claims Submission
We bill your auto insurance directly — you pay nothing out of pocket when covered by PIP. Our billing team submits all claims, follows up on payments, and resolves any issues with the insurance company. If you have an attorney, we work closely with your legal team to provide the medical records and documentation they need.
What to Bring to Your First Visit
To help us process your claim quickly and accurately, please bring the following information to your first appointment:
- Your auto insurance information (policy number, company name, adjuster contact)
- The police report or case number from the accident
- Driver's license or photo ID
- Contact information for the other driver(s) involved
- Photos of vehicle damage or the accident scene (if available)
- Any medical records or imaging from emergency room visits
- Your attorney's contact information (if applicable)
Insurance Coordination
When multiple insurance policies are involved — such as PIP, the at-fault driver's liability insurance, and your health insurance — coordinating benefits can be complex. Our experienced billing team manages this process for you.
We work with all parties involved to ensure your treatment is properly authorized and paid for. This includes:
- Verifying PIP coverage and available benefits
- Coordinating with liability insurance carriers
- Submitting claims to secondary insurance when applicable
- Providing documentation for legal proceedings
- Communicating with your attorney about medical costs and treatment
